Comment: Highly prized in cat's eye: the split into two colors by a centered ray. Huge Sillimanite! One side coffee black, the other milk foam, basically an espresso machiato turned to stone. This effect sows best when the gem is hit by light from the side. From straight atop a single daylight light-source edges a sharp silver ray through the middle of the gem. Tungsten light shows the ray in white. Hard to find and very expensive in chrysoberyl such a cat's eye is a welcome new arrival in chatoyancy gems a.k.a. cat's eyes. Eight carats is massive for a ring-gem but in cabochons the weight distribution allows for smaller ring sizes, here perhaps down to a size six or seven. The single photo shot under harsh office-light turned one half almost violet. See also the side image, no weight loss underneath, at least not more than is needed for a setting. Full size even in sillimanite. Flawless finish, shape and cut. Extra sharp ray. If you don't want to plug-down $20k for a chrysoberyl of this size, there are no complaints to be expected.
