Overall Grade: Very Good

Comment: This 1.16 is a hint brighter in shade (measuring 'tone', between Light and Dark) than 0.71 but has more depth (measuring the dimensions in mm, length to width): One feature canceling out the other. Remember, a shallow gem with only, say, 55% depth but a darker tone may appear similar to a gem with great depth, say, 80% but a lighter tone. If you compare our 0.71 with 1.16, this exactly what happens: Depth canceling out tone. (Ask if that is not clear.) IGI noted the difference with 'deep purple' in 0.71 and simply purple in 1.16. This new parcel of rhodolites shares the same fascinating royal hue, and also the type of inclusions, even the position of those inclusions seem similar. Very interesting. Snatch one while they last. As the images show better than all words, the purple is of a unique quality. As described in the GIA article, they color-shift into red and add violet in daylight. Only old stock is in the market and it will not last long. No inclusions visible to the eye, no window, no treatments. Will make a gorgeous ringstone.
