Comment: Violet purple as typical for unheated Uruguayan amethyst, cut from the very tip of a full crystal where the color is usually strongest. Check the side- and back-images to note how the cutter pointed the face-up exactly in the right direction along the best color axis, and thereby with the crystal. One (1) itsy-bitsy hard-to-find (under the lens only) inclusion turns our draconian grading rules to 'very lightly included' instead of a 'free of inclusion' which would probably also be OK with most gem friends because it is NOT visible from the front. However, a 'free of inclusion' should mean that even the most dedicated flaw-seeker with a fine lens and an eagle's eye should not find a thing to gripe about, and he/she will also search from the side and back. Generally accepted grading rules do NOT include a search for inclusions from the side or back-view, however, we have made the experience that, once an inclusion was detected from the back, the eye will start to 'trick' the brain to see the same inclusion from the front as well (under the lens). Not seen from the front at first, then detected from the back, the brain knows the inclusion is there and fills the gaps. This effect leaves room for a thousand years of discussion, hence we rather grade 'very lightly included' and be on the safe side. In any case, we can agree on our 3Nos: No visible inclusions, no treatments no window. A great sparkler, terrifically cut, with full IGI report, free home shipping or (not free) settings from our master goldsmiths, great value for a ring stone.
