Comment: Vivid rainbow neon colors in an almost colorless white body, green, blue, yellow, red, and all in between. Not only a cabochon cut but with facets and a center ridge. These spread the color-play into broader flashes, adding lively impulses. Compare with 1.67 to see how wide these gems vary, each a unique experience to match your personal taste. These days still, but less and less, reasonable priced from Welo in Ethiopia, as the only source after the old OZ mines are rarely producing such color-play and then on a totally different price level. Born to become a pendant or in a set as earrings (ask us for a partner). No inclusions, almost transparent crystal. Untreated, of course (these opals can and are treated to intensify or change colors). Opals have a lower gravity than most gems, thus 2.4 carat buy you 13x9mm of most amazing color magic.
