Overall Grade: Excellent+

Comment: Full sized, perfectly dimensioned and rainbow-colored crystal opal. Flame pattern underlaid with mosaic ornaments. The color-wheel is represented in its entirety, in bright pastel tones. No inclusions, no dead-spots, untreated, all in a pure colorless, not white, transparent crystal. Note, how the relative thickness blocks the usual skin hue from penetrating in the handshots. Also, see under 'more images' the last image is showing the underside of the gem - equally beautiful, though the domed side naturally has more depth in person. Only since the discovery on Welo opals has such quality become available for others than the lucky (or not) 1%. Once the Ethiopian mines are empty (of which I have heard no rumors) these gems will go the same way that paraiba tourmalines, mahenge spinels, or Kashmir sapphires, have gone. Seeing their beauty and moving color magic in person is nothing less but a revelation.
