Comment: Pure shiny yellow beryl with no, well, almost no, green in real life (the pesky image-green is a camera/monitor effect). Heliodors come from a family of well-respected and valuable gemstones, the beryls, as in 'aquamarine' or 'emerald'. They have no marketing association pushing their brand and are thus not well known outside collector circles. Amongst jewelers looking for reasonable but pretty gems on the other hand, they are well known and sold as (amongst other names) as 'golden beryl'. This 9x7 pear had a hard time in front of the camera (on a sunny day) but is a real sweet darling in person with a golden shiny crystal, best seen in the distant hand-shot under 'more images'. The aurora-like inclusions offer a fascinating show under the lens but are far too small and delicate for the eye to perceive without lens. As with all beryls, the low density produces a big face-up for only one and half carats, plus there is no bad window to bemoan (even if the images suggest otherwise, again because of too much sunshine). It will make an affordable but classy looking pendant, prompting either questions around diamonds (from the less initiated) or after sapphire (from the progressive crowd).
