J.V, Ill:

"She’s here, and she’s fabulous! :-)

I’m very pleased with the spinel.

Now I just need to make an appointment with my local jeweler to find a mounting. I will send you pics when the ring is finished.

Thanks for a smooth transaction!"

(padparadscha spinel)

L.M., MS:

"This is the prettiest little gemstone I think I’ve ever seen!!! Thank you so much. She’s the perfect mix of pink, purple and I see little flashes of blue; kind of a unicorn imo. I’ll send you pictures once I get it set. I have a half carat Peruzzi cut diamond and I think they’d make a lovely pendant necklace. If you ever come across the same color in a larger stone, I’m interested. Thank you so much!

(sapphire)

C.M.; OR:

"The moonstone arrived yesterday, and it is everything I was hoping it would be. Thank you for being a ‘stand up guy.’ Loved the extras, too.

Sorry for all of the confusion. Hope I can come back for more!"

(blue sheen moonstone)

M.F.; UK:

"The zircon has arrived! A truly excellent stone. Thank you."

(zircon)

M.K.; MD:

"All is well here and the second gem is exactly as expected. "

(sapphire)

P.O., OZ:

"Received the earrings :-) Thanks heaps!"

(welo opals in gold)

A.H, LA:

"Ed, The Thai sapphire has made it to me, today. This brightened my day and I hope this news brings you some joy as well. She is a beauty, and the craftsmanship is sturdy. I would like to send you a picture when the lighting is better here. You were still wonderful to work with. I will keep you in mind for my next gemstone purchase as I would like to have an alexandrite or ruby some day. I look forward to your response."

(sapphire and tapered baguette diamond in gold)

E.L., FN:

"Stone is beautiful. Again, many thanks."

(sapphire)

L.W., VA:

"My emerald pendant arrived yesterday and I immediately made it part of my person! Just beautiful with the Zimbabwe studs you made me! There are many stones I continue to eye on your website, in particular a golden zircon recut by Wieland, so I hope it won't be too long."

(emerald in gold)

A.N., (AUD):

"I was happy to receive the long-awaited ring yesterday.

Ed, the sapphire is a lovely rich golden-orange without being brown, as you said. I am enjoying examining its colour in different lighting conditions. Thank you for supplying the lab report card.

E., thank you for crafting a perfect daisy ring for this stone. The platinum work is beautifully delicate.

I appreciate your time and patience that has gone into this project. Be well!"

(sapphire, diamonds in platinum)

E. L.; Finland:

"I have the package. To say that I am impressed is
an understatement and a massive disservice to you
and your thoughtfulness. All I can say is that I
am a return customer, and in fact, I am already on
the website looking for something else that I
need. Expect to get inquiries again from me real
soon. >Blessings and love from the universe,"

(ruby)

L.M. TN, USA:

"Hi Ed, we received the gem today and it is just glorious!   D. and I spent much time hypnotized studying it today.  Thanks also for the rest."

(titanite)

T.G. ; CH:

"Dear all,

Thank you very much, the little beauty just arrived.

Very nice color, indeed only a hint of purple only under the lens and only from the back. Just as I like it!

What a sparkler! I also see a little rutile silk layer at the bottom so I assume it comes from Mogok - do you know? Or is it Mong Hsu? In any case, I love it and am very happy with it. Thank you all very much for the team work in these hard times. I wish you Ed a speedy recovery and a successful 2021 :)

Until the next ruby ;)"

(Ruby)

P.S. I vote for Mong Hsu because of the violet crystal core.

J.K., CA:

"I received the completed ring last night. I waited to see it in the daylight to write my note of thanks.

Wow! The engraving blows my mind. It shows the engraver was enthused and inspired by the idea I sent. There is so much detail and grace in the foliate and scroll patterns they chose. Also, a good call on bezeling the garnet, since it does not black out completely in low light situations. The symmetry of the faceting is echoed in the engraving around the stone and the white gold pairs well with this tone of red. Thank you so much for making this piece happen.

I'll likely wear more on this hand's middle finger, but I snapped the ring on my index finger to show details and made a little collage. Here you go and thank you again."

(rhodolite in antique filligree in yellow gold)

L.B.; MI:

"I just received the stone today! It is gorgeous! Thanks! Laurie"

(red spinel)

J.K.; CA:

"I wanted to share with you that the little Mogok ruby is in a ring now, and here are a couple of pictures. I did put it in platinum, as you suggested, and kept the ruby the focus."

M.v.K, HI:

"Yes it did arrive, beautiful colors and strong change!"

(color change fluorite)

MvT, HI:

"Just wanted to send you a couple photos of the topaz we got from you, now at home in a simple gold pendant."

W. B-E.; Harvard, USA:

"Just arrived ?. My daughter and I both love it! Colors look great together."

(Padparadscha, pair vivid yellow diamonds, pair indicolite, band with mixed colors diamonds, all in platinum.
BTW, my over-crowding fears were, IMHO, totally uunnecessary)

M.F.; UK.

"Chrysoberyl now here, thank you.

Remarkably bright stone, and uniformly so. Excellent.

Thank you."

(Chrysoberyl)

K.L.; UK.

"I’m super happy with my 3 stone ring. Really wonderful. Do let me know if you want to see a photo of it. I love the outcome and appreciate having worked with you on it.

Thanks again, Best wishes"

A.N.; OZ:

"I received the 0.80 Ceylon sapphire ring just before Christmas and have been getting acquainted with it over the last week. It's lovely. The halo is very neatly done. I like that the mounting is not too tall, yet can also be stacked with a band.. I think it makes a dainty but visible jewel, and hits my preferred sweet spot of finger coverage for a daily-wear ring. May I ask where your bench is located?

The stone itself is a crisp and very wearable mid-blue, and as Dani pointed out, keeps its colour in pretty much all lighting conditions, even under my poxy office fluorescent tubes. One inclusion is visible without loupe, but only close up and at a certain angle. Amazing how the inclusion vanishes in the face-up position. You may finally change 'hold' to 'sold'!

Thank you also for the generous gifts of the book. I hope that both of you and everyone at Wild Fish are having a restful and safe holiday. Happy New Year!"

M.F.; SC:

"So, got the zircon today, thank you. Our post doesn’t arrive until mid afternoon, when it’s already getting dark at 57 degrees north. So I haven’t seen it in sunlight yet. Very sparkly under our kitchen lights, though. Thanks for the ‘extra’. I’m thinking it’s unakite?

This time my package was stopped at customs... just a nuisance having to fill in a form and send money. Can’t be helped. Thank you."

(green zircon)

C.H.; NZ:

"The emerald, chrysoberyl and moonstone arrived today along with your unexpected gifts of the book, penlight and loupe. Thank you so much!

I expect Covid caused a fair bit of that slowish transit time. Lucky I was in no hurry, and all's well that ends well!

Dani - Do you think mounting the moonstone in a black metal will bring out the blue sheen? (No worries if you have no experience of that)

Thanks again for your patience. I am sure the next transaction will go smoother."

(emerald, chrysoberyl, moonstone)

G.M., CT:

"Dani/Ed,

I received the package this afternoon.  I think the gem is absolutely beautiful!!  Thank you very much for your diligence in keeping tabs on the shipping.

PS, I look forward to reading the book."

(Rubellite)

J.K., S.M:

"The box with the sapphire 3-stone ring in it arrived today. The color impression I get of it is skewed since blue lightwaves are canceled by the wildfire smoke in the atmosphere. Orange-toned light aside, yes, I am in love with the piece. There is a subtle shaping to the outline of the setting that reflects in the light in an admirable way. The ring is nice and fairly heavy. Looks better than I expected it would.

Very glad I opted for the light blue sapphires since the combination with the center stone is intriguing. I anticipated round aquamarine-like stones but these are indeed round brilliants that tend to more closely resemble fancy colored diamonds. The complex center stone is enhanced by being placed in a setting, too. Thank you so much for making me such a cool unplated white gold ring with these sapphires."

(Sapphires in unplated white gold)

F.G.; IT:

"Work quite perfect, 22k-ring could be a little bit more massive, so 25%+25%+25%+23% = 98%"

(Color-Change Bekily Garnet with Diamonds in white and yellow gold)

(Every 2nd photo was taken by the client to show the piece in its natural habitat. As opposed to the artificially looking pro-photographs who could not understand that we prefer a realistic photo to a 'magazine-model-style'. It was his last work for us, I hope.)

(Rhodolite in platinum)

(vivid yellow diamond in platinum)

(Chrome Tourmaline in 22k hammered gold)

J.K.; CA:

Thanks! It sure was nice to recieve the ring this morning.

Engraving is positioned and proportioned like I wanted. Not sure whether what I chose is technically a lotus or papyrus but it looks cool! Nice etching inside the design releif. The setting is nice and weighty -- I am glad I opted for your recommendation of the slight extra solidness on the shank underside to weight the whole ring. It is comfortable and does not rotate/spin. The unplated white gold is new to me and subtle warmth compliments the color of the sapphire. This setting draws out both the violet aspect and translucency of the gem, too. Yes, I checked back and this arrived just one day short of the 11 month mark since we started on it due to the workshop moving, and then the virus, but it was worth the wait since the setting is so fitting for the stone. It's a more mysterious and striking gem this way (with a hinting rising star in the right light). Thank you.

(Star Sapphire in 18k unplated white gold)

S.T., NC:

"Hi Ed.  I received my pendant set with my Wildfish gems in gleaming 18kt yellow gold.  The goldsmith worked very hard to expertly set the stones deep into the gold as I requested, yet they still gleam and show all the fire they did before being set.  One of a kind piece!"

(Zircon, Tourmaline, Garnet, Diamond, Ruby, Sapphire in 18k gold)

G.M., Ontario:

"Arrived!! Beautiful! We are very happy, thank you Ed!!"

(pink sapphires in gold)

M.G., SC:

"So, the topaz has arrived. It is indeed a splendid, bright, stone and very well cut. Delivery was (surprisingly) painless. It just arrived. I have given up trying to work out when duty will be charged and how much. It seems to be completely random."

(topaz)

L.W., CA:

"Ed, Got them!
What an amazing blue! The backsides ARE flower locks (almost) and are much easier to fasten than the emeralds are! Also amazing is the 950 PT stamp on each piece, clear though very tiny. I looked at them very carefully with my jewelers' magnifiers and literally fell into the blue! Then I discovered I could turn them to look like my husband's very slanty Dutch blue eyes too.
Then, to have received, in addition, the surprise Septarian stone. At first I didn't know what I was looking at, but then I held it up to the light. WHOA! what a beautiful green with tiger stripes! This is really new to me.
What a morning --- amazing, amazing!! Thank you so much! L.l"

(blue sapphire in custom designed platinum studs)

M.H. NY:

"I picked up the pearl on Monday. It’s even more beautiful/amazing than the picture! It appears to actually glow! I'll let you know if/when I come to a decision for a design. Are you ever in NYC? Regardless, I am so pleased with the pearl. Thanks again."

('24K' Saltwater Pearl)

G.U.; MA:

"It arrived today and just perfect as described and even better cause this colorplay one cannot really put in words, but must see in motion. I'll safe some money to get you make eaarings for my sweetheart, she'll be even prettier with these colorwonders on her side. As such a double good investment, making your girl prettier and having something valuable to let the kids have when the time comes. Thanks again, for your trust and service. It's been a pleasure and I'll be back for your workshop with cash in hand."

(pair welo crystal opals)

K.L, UK:

"I sent you photos of the beautiful stones I bought from you which are now in a lighter, more feminine pendant inspired by your own design."

"We received the package today and everything looks great.   Looking forward to reading your book!"

(tsavorite and garnets in gold)

T.M., OR:

"So sorry I haven't been in contact with you since I purchased the 3 pads. I definitely owe you a very delayed thank you! The gems were gorgeous and just as I expected from the photos. I had the pair made into stud earrings and my wife absolutely loved them. Also, thanks for the tool kit and the copy of your book, I haven't gotten around to reading it yet but promise I will at some point, one can only be envious of the adventurous life you lead. I took some nice photos of the pads and, ever the procrastinator, I intend to leave you a glowing review soon, pricescope seems like a good place no?

Not exactly sure how the kiss vouchers work but can I reserve one of the 5 so I can browse the site over the next week without worrying about losing out on the sale? Or is it FCFS to those who actually use the code at checkout? Let me know, I'm ready to dive back in! I hope things are going well for you, keep up the good work! Best wishes,"

(set of padparadschas)

M.F; UK:

"Got them, thank you. Both outstanding."

(orange and periwinkle spinel)

K.L.; UK:

"I wanted to share with you the setting of the ...Jade... Vesuvianite (I know that’s not it’s technical name) which I’m very happy with. As you can see smooth gold wraps the stone and loop, and the back is silver. The gold really brings the green to life."

(Vesuvianite in Gold & Silver, by Rachael at Gill Wing, London)

"I love the design, I think it looks fabulous!!! and the stones and the overall idea. Maybe we did use more gold than needed."

(blue & pink sapphire pair with apatite in 22k gold)

"Yes, received and wearing the ring plenty!! That ring looks lovely, I can see the craftsmanship!! Very wearable."

M.F.; SCT:

"Stones arrived safe, thank you — a couple of days ago, but miserable weather, and I have been out during daylight hours, so today is the first chance I have had to admire them properly (in bright winter sunshine!). Both are excellent. Very pleased with them. Thank you too for the paperwork."

(spinel, aquamarine cat's eye)

S.F.; CA:

"Yesterday evening I found a BIG FedEx box outside my front door.  Nothing better than a big box at Christmas!  Then, after much unwrapping, I find a really beautiful ring.  The filigree was the perfect choice I think for this ring.  The stone is a beautiful color and the way in sits in the filigree allows the light to reflect off the inner ring and finger very nicely.  the dragon is well integrated with the filigree. Just perfect.

The ring fits so well I think I will be able to wear it all the time like a wedding ring. Though this one is associated with finishing the huge online presentation linked below of my life's work (wp...) last spring and my 70th year last May- and now it's perfect for Christmas.

Thanks so much for the time you gave this project.  I'm sure you can't spend that much attention on every sale.

And thank you also for including your book!  I definitely look forward to reading it.  (Are their audible versions... though I think reading it allows more direct contact with the author possibly.)  I'll be looking to see if I can tell the historical parts for the fiction parts.

Happy Holy Season to you Ed, to you and your whole family (and all the folks who made this ring)."

(emerald in filigree gold depicting a dragon on one and Jesus on the other side)

D.H.; CA:

"Best wishes to you and your family for the holidays. I received the pearls yesterday and the sphenes last week. I will be keeping both sets. The sphenes are the exact chartreuse color I was hoping for, and the pearls are perfect too. Whether I have the pearls set with the orange sapphires I already have is yet to be determined, but they will make a lovely pair of earrings one way or the other. It's always great doing business with you."

(untreated cultured orange-pink pearls, sphene

L&D.; TN:

"Hi Ed,  It's just magical!  We'll be spending countless hours looking at it with different lights and taking it about in different locations :-) we've decided to keep it!   It's so magical and we've had so much fun exploring its many colors.  We discovered so many color/sparkle combination that are impossible to capture by camera and I have a feeling there will be many more."

(Bekily color-change garnet)

M.F.; SL:

"Stones arrived safe yesterday morning, so thank you. Very pleased with all of them, especially the star which is amazing. Great colour too. You were right about the zircon. Certainly next to the additional blue you sent, the trillion appeared almost colourless when I was looking at it yesterday in poor light or artificial light. This morning, in brilliant sunshine, the trillion is clearly a very pale greenish blue, perhaps a bit more than tinted white, but not much. Anyway, absolutely happy with your solution."

(star sapphire, zircons, aquamarine)

I.G; DL:

(various zircons and diamonds in gold and platinum)

M.F.; SCT:

"Just to confirm stones arrived safe today. Both excellent so thank you very much. Very pleased with them. Will read your book with interest."

(green and violet sapphires)

R.R., CA:

"Thanks Ed. The gem is very beautiful."

(Mogok Ruby)

K.L., UK:

"Thanks I have received the stone. I’m delighted with the shape and colour. Very happy indeed and always happy to buy from you."

(vesuvanite)

S.L.,; VA:

"Oh, Dear Ed!!! I am 200% satisfied with both spinels.  One purple is very delightful, purely happy, and super sparkly, and the other purple is darker, very substantive and so passionate!! (it is as if one represents a young teen-age girl and the other one represents a mature elegant woman :)).  I can't be happier with my choices.  Also, Thank you so much for all the extras  I gotta show that flash light to my son (I think it is brilliant idea for advertising your company - was that your idea?).  Thank you again!"

(two purple spinels)

J.F., Indiana:

"A most beautiful gem! Delivered with thoughtful all-around service. Grateful customer, me, for ever!"

(Treble certified and GIA engraved Kashmir sapphire/ruby)

J.K.; CA:

"I received the shipment yesterday. Welo opal is very cool, thank you, the transparency and 3D play of color is interesting to watch. Crystal opal is a very different creature from other types. It's a calming, nature/forest suggestive blend of colors rather than a dramatic one blazing in the light. I also think this opal has more life in lower light conditions than opaque varieties. The play of color travels in unexpected ways. Almost as if there are a couple mossy caverns in the stone for little water spirits to travel around in.

I do think that I will need to avail myself of a little extra time to examine these sapphires.

The 4.81 presents better in person than in photographs; the magnification draws out the inclusions and surface polish interruptions whereas only direct sun or an artificial beam highlights those much at all. The "rising" star looks very evocative in sun or directed light. It reminds me of hardstone -- in the images, lapis, and in person, looks more like a blue jade texure. Indoors, more shaded, the blue deepens and translucency tones down to a flatter presentation. Nice color, blue blue, a color bargain.

I especially need time to interpret 1.01. I've read of the shifty nature of sapphire and here is one that changes color. Sometimes the stone reminds me of an unheated tanzanite/zoisite with a near-petroleum blend of colors (but no green). Most of the time so far the color leans toward the red-tinged purple and I primarily catch the blue using the torch. In that light it really is similar to a cornflower. I'll keep trying different times and light conditions. I may see some more of the blue in the places and at the times my stars' blues deepen in tone. Sort of indirect light approaching in morning and fading in early evening.

I further get the impression that the CC stone will look better set; holding closely in my hand already "masks" an inclusion that a light background emphasizes. The brilliance and shape look great. I like that the stone faces up larger than I expected. The culet being slightly off-center doesn't bother me much face up, either. (In an unheated sapphire without a window I'm not inclined to be that picky.) It is nicely swimming in character when I can draw out the blue. Initially I thought it was sort of like a grayish spinel out of the box but I'm already picking up on more of the complexity. I'm not sure the color is really that gray but, perhaps, some of the purple is coming through. And I suspect the brilliance and CC are, in part, a tradeoff with a hint less saturation of blue. (Most out there are actually milder color-shift sapphires.) Choice of "warm" LED lightbulbs indoors might tilt the appearance toward purple, too. A complex character for sure."

(color change sapphire, cabochon sapphire, welo opal)

D.H.; CA:

"The package was in my mailbox today, in record delivery time. The amethysts are beautiful and I will be keeping them.  Thanks for the bonus raw stone too! Once I have the stones set I will send you pictures."

(amethyst pair)

D.M., AL:

"The ring finally arrived over here, and we picked it up at the end of the day yesterday. We love it so much! It's very beautiful and intricate, and we can't stop staring and admiring it. Thank you so much!"

(demantoid in leaf-etched gold)

J.K., CA:

"I signed for the package with ring yesterday evening.  I'm very happy. The setting is very tailored and well-executed. I appreciate the substantial bezel, which looks protective, and how it is rounded on the bottom along the band for comfort. Outer edge of the band is nicely beveled as well. The rope motif around the outside is how I wanted it to be done too. She likes that it is 18k gold with a more saturated yellow hue than 14k. She loves the color and shape of the garnet itself. It is the perfect color for for a redhead like her.The stone has a great luster and there are very pretty, large flashes of color that reflect from the facets. The cut is really good-looking; I am impressed. A close up, eye-visible hint of that hessonite treacle texture adds interest, too. Its color is more of orange and less brown than I expected, which is welcome. A more red orange and a shiny honey brilliance in some lighting surprised me, too."

(hessonite in antique rope framed gold)

I.H., NC:

"Yes sir.i gave them to her early haha.she really likes them!thanks Ed!im sure I’ll be getting something from you again.thanks for the little extra too."

"I recieved the ring on Wednesday! It is absolutely gorgeous. M... is going to love it. I'm going to take her up on a hike to watch the sun rise over the east shore of O.. and I couldn't ask for a better looking ring! Thank you so much! I was a little worried with this being my first online gem buying experience but it was super easy and you were correct, it looks so much better in person. Very Respectfully,"

(color change sapphire in six-prong floating casket)

S.L.; VA:

"I just got the gorgeous green tourmaline ring!! It is rose gold, so don't worry :) I am COMPLETELY satisfied with this ring. I never thought that a green stone would look this beautiful (you make it so difficult for me to shop anywhere else!). It really goes well with the rose gold color setting. Thank you again!!!"

(tourmaline in double shank rose-gold)

"I just received the storm blue spinel and such an adorable emerald!!! I think I am weird, but I actually prefer this type of spinel blue (with some grey and purple, which really reminds me of "storm blue" as you brilliantly named) over a bright blue sapphire or spinel.  It is a very sophisticated color, and the stone is so perfectly cut, giving a lot of sparkles.  I think I will set this stone in an antique ring (with baguette diamond side stones).  I can't thank you enough, Ed! "

"I just received the spinel.  It is probably the most sparkling and unique (in terms of a shape) stone I have ever owned (what a wonderful job in cutting!!).  I love the fact that the color is not simple pink or simple purple, but rather a sophisticated wine color.  Again, I am deeply satisfied with my purchase. Now, I have to figure what I am going to do with the spinel (a ring or a pendant) :)  Thank you always, Ed!!!"

"I have decided to keep TRRU101 - it will make a fantastic family heirloom! It ticks almost all the boxes. I say "almost" because as Richard Hughes wrote:

"We must first understand that the perfect ruby does not exist. Get it out of your head. There are no tens. So rare is this last quality that even an eight is worthy of down-on-your-knees idol worship. This is because fine ruby requires chromium and, as with emerald and alexandrite, the processes that place chromium into corundum are just as stressful as love itself."

Thank you so much for the beautiful ruby Ed, it’s a fabulous piece and I could not be happier with it! Thank you also for putting up with my demanding requests and for giving me the chance to see such a wide variety of colors and origins, all unique and beautiful. Ruby is a difficult but highly rewarding gem for those who can invest time and little capital, no wonder it is called to king of stones! Absolutely let’s stay in touch and I would be glad to meet you in person one day. All the best."

"I just received the cobalt blue spinel ring, and it is just GORGEOUS. The color is so beautiful (the type of blue which I like the most), and the craftsmanship of the setting is really impressive (as I already said before for my other sapphire ring)!  I also love the rose gold color of the setting.  Every penny I spent on this ring was worth it. Thank you so much, Ed!"

Thank you so much for providing such a valuable resource to those of us who want only the best. It also did not escape notice that you wrote beautiful certificates for my coral and garnet. "Hi Ed. My gemstones arrived today.  I am so happy and impressed with them. They exceed my expectations in every way.  I cannot get over the color of all of them especially the Emerald.  You really picked out a beauty for me. Thank you as well for the thoughtful gift of the signed novel.  You are very generous. Last, a gem question for you.  Your description of my yellow sapphire says it has a small window, but honestly, I cannot even find it!  I thought windows were due to either bad cutting or shallow depth, but my stone has 73% depth and cutting grade of "good".  How could a stone that deep have a window?  Regardless of window or not, it is just gorgeous! I have attached a photo.  Thank you again. I knew I was doing the right thing by buying from Wild Fish."

(sapphire, emerald, zircon)

Remark: Our No-Window-Standard calls for extra vigilance when one of our gems does show a hint of a window. As S.T. states above a little window is sometimes hard to pinpoint. In the above image you see the 'window' in the center of the gem, where no color and no reflection leave a dull area. One could write a book about the topic, so we do our little education on the go. There is more here and here.

"Hi Ed, I've received the ring. Thank you. Stones look perfect. I'm sure she'll love it. Very special look, and size-wise just right. I went and saw Bill at Gem Studies Laboratory in Sydney. He confirmed that the inclusions in one of the stones was high probablity Sandawana. The other he could not see conclusively but given they’re a pair I’m happy. To test properly for alterations he’d have to take the stones out the setting which wouldn’t be worthwile given we have the DSEF report coming (He thought DSEF were very good). He also tested the ring which he confirmed as 18ct gold. His lab does valuation reports but he confirmed what you said, being that he wouldn’t be able to put an accurate premium on it’s unique attributes."

"Apologies in advance for the radio silence. Decided to take some time to "get to know" the stones instead of just reply straight back after first impression. Then work hit in hard, then family and now some infection that has me in bed for a week now..Anyway first i tahnk you and applaud all the personal touches and extras. It is not surprising am sure you have a high rate of returning customers. Will read the book on the long flight to costarica coming up, is it based on real events or fictional? And of course, lets not forget the meat of the matter.  the gems:Mahengue spinel is a beauty and although not love at first sight, i like it more and more. However i am dissapointed about the lack of daylight fluorescence it exhibits. Rhodolite.nice color, and does have some color shift but not much. Good size but in need of a recut badly. Personal project for when i get great at that.Sapphire. Now this is a stone that will take more time to steal the heart but it is definetely mysterious and charismatic at girst sight. The cutting is not great. What it lacks in cutting it has in uniqueness of colors. I have a hard time trying to describe its color.I am overall pleased,  i am still in search for daylight fluorescent spinel!  Ala jedi spinel except without the extreme glow of those as well as their pricetag."

Remark: In 'normal' daylight, spinels exhibit less natural fluorenscence than ruby.

Title

J.K;  CA:

"I received the garnet and ruby last night. Both gems are surprising in very good ways. The garnet is a brighter tone than I expected. It is rather glittery in light and has hearth-like color reflected from inside even in low lighting conditions. I think the good cut makes a difference in how a transparent garnet like this one presents as not-too-dark yet flashes deep color. The body color is a lightly brown-tinged red, classic garnet, without the blacking out some stones suffer. This presents as an interesting combination of the almandine-pyrope series with a dash of a pink hue, like its very close relative in a composition named rhodolite. The little ruby leapt out at me as much more red than I anticipated. I did not expect a natural stone to have such a color. This is a far cry from the flat, dull, and opaque faceted treated rubies. Those tend to vary from a brick red to a dark pink and let little to no light through, often like a cabochon grade material was faceted anyway. Light actually will pass through this stone enough that a line underneath shows up or a "laser" glow is focused on the opposite side. The torch, positioned above shining in from the side, suggests zones of the "red and violet splitting off" your site mentions. I am not brave enough to carry the case outside into the sun yet. This also isn't an orange-tinged or a cherry red like other, clearer rubies I have seen with transparency. The purplish undertone is always second to red, overall, and there is a dynamic of red glow spots moving around inside in changing angles under different lighting situations. With closer attention, angling properly, and a bit of magnification, I can make out the little orange-looking, cloudy or feathery structure. Small but superb.
I am definitely cherishing and meditating on the almandine garnet and Mogok ruby. The shape of the garnet is unusually nicely executed; it is better the more shallow, checkerboard cushion cuts I've seen elsewhere. This does not look "semiprecious" in the least but completely precious to me. And the ruby is complex, a kind of marvel or wonder in a miniature oval frame. The red light reflected from the interior is unlike any colored stone I have seen. Its neon-like variability is an elusive quality that demonstrates to me why some rubies stand out for connoisseurs.  Thank you for steering me toward this stone instead of a higher-priced and larger one. It is very right for me. Thank you again for all of your help."

J.T.K. CA:

Yes, today the star sapphire was shipped to me, expertly packaged and generously accompanied by goodies. Thank you so much for the extras of your signed book, and I like the bag/pouch the stone was carried in, too.

Everything looks very fine. The gem's reports are great. It looks like Wild Fish upgraded their printer in the past 8+ years since the report printing itself is that much sharper than before. Thank you for the superb description in your report.

Oh, and the stone -- it is a lovely sapphire. I was a bit concerned that it might be a star that looked like neither a blue sapphire cabochon or a sapphire with noticeable asterism. To my eyes, though, the asterism is definitely not an afterthought. It is just a not super sharp star and one "axis" of a couple legs looks less distinct than the rest. More importantly, there is a glow emanating from within that I enjoy seeing in some star stones. No synthetic star floats so gracefully and catches the light quite like a natural one. I think stars are so individual in character that they strike you in person a particular way and resent photographic attempts to duplicate their look. So I appreciate the work that went into describing and picturing the star.

The color is quite an admirable hue, I think, too. This is not quite a grey blue but the violet-tinted, light-medium blue promised. I look forward to the natural character of the sapphire's color coming out in varying saturation and tone depending on the time of the day, too. That is another pleasure in seeing the real star sapphire charm like no Linde or diffusion-treated stone can claim.

So, yes, this is a stone that is not only high dome but also one that has some real depth, visually. I like when the color zoning is fairly smooth like this one. The shape is pleasing. The presence of but one very minor inclusion on the lower outer edge is barely even a flaw worth noting. I am actually excited to see a bit of a similarity to the lavender-blue pendant star sapphire from Ceylon that my great-grandfather brought back for my great-grandmother many decades ago. I think the translucency of the 7.25 ct stone is admirable as well.

In all, this star is a very happy medium ground between the strongly blue stars, that are like capturing light reflected in pure blue water, and the foggier, lighter grey blue stars that are more common. It's a win, and I thank you for your help in getting this star sapphire to me. It makes a nice complement to my big more-blue-but-included bullet-shaped cabochon star and my little strong-asterism-but-more-rutile grey blue Burmese star. Between the three I have a good set of star qualities. No need for a return -- this 7.25 ct star sapphire is staying with me. It found its new home.. It is a very good stone. I've been to nearby jewelers with the synthetics and a couple city downtown jewelry stores with the real ones. So, I have an idea from that and years of online interest. Somehow I missed the 7.25 ct until last month's newsletter caused me to check out what stars Wild Fish had now! Glad I did!

Auch wenn man sich (noch) nicht persönlich kennt, besteht dennoch ein Vertrauensverhältnis. Dass wir Ihre Seite "Wildfish" gefunden haben freut uns sehr. Thank you, too, for including the lovely accessories--I wasn't expecting those! I very much look forward to reading your book. I was not even aware until fairly recently that many, many gems in the marketplace are treated, "enhanced" or otherwise tampered with in some way. Now that I know this, I only want to seek out untreated gemstones, as nothing matches the beauty and "energy" of the real thing, in my opinion. Especially since it is also my understanding that some of the treatments may be toxic! I am so glad I found your website as a reliable source of untreated gemstones from someone such as yourself who cares deeply about the sourcing, authenticity and natural beauty of the stones.

Thank you again for my beautiful rhodolite garnet. I assure you I will take good care of it! All best wishes,"

"The stone arrived today and it exceeded expectations.  It is very pretty. thanks for the book.  I will enjoy reading it!

You asked why I had changed my mind about having the stone set.  It didn’t have anything to do with the price you quoted.  I have wanted an emerald-cut blue-green tourmaline for a long time and I want to wear it a lot.  I am really tough on jewelry and have banged up the tables of many gems set in rings, so I thought I’d go for a pendant, but then I realized that (1) I wouldn’t be able to see the stone and (2) I don’t wear many colors that the stone is going to match or complement.  So now I’m back to thinking about a ring setting that would protect the stone.

Have a wonderful day, and I hope to purchase from you again.

Its breathtakingly beautiful.  At Last I will be wearing the ring I've been waiting to wear for almost 2 years.   I think it appraised at a little over $9,500 from a gia appraiser...wow...  have a nice holiday let me know if there's anything else I can do, best wishes...."

I made it through the day (whew!), so we opened the ring together. We both think it's just beautiful, even more than we'd imagined. The sparkle of the sapphire and the zircon side stones is just amazing; it's magical! I just love looking at it, and I've been admiring it quite a bit. I even made my husband put it on so I could admire it on him. It's a very happy looking ring. 😃There is a substantial amount of gold in the ring, and the mix of the gold colors with the stone colors is gorgeous. I'm so glad we had it done that way. I feel like I should buy my ring a dozen roses and take her out to dinner. I just love her and I'm thrilled to have her. I love the history of the sapphire stone and it's amazing to me how this ring came all together and ended up on my finger, custom made just for me.

I appreciate the copy of the history that you enclosed, along with the IGI report. It was wonderful to find a signed copy of your book, too! I love books, animals and gems (not necessarily in that order), so it's a perfect read for me. My husband will enjoy it, too. I had a Shepherd mix named Ruby and a coon hound mix named Emerald Louise (Emmie Lou or Emmie for short. She only got called by her full name when she was in trouble, which was rare). I miss having a big dog around my house, but right now I have Kacy, a Sheltie who has a big personality.

The only downside to my ring is I had it sized too big. I went to the store to have my right hand ring finger sized, and I was told it was an 8, but now I really think it should be a 7-1/2. I just want to be sure that it won't cause the ring any harm. Please let me know what you think.

Ed, thanks so much for all your patience and kindness over the past few years during my (rather long) layaway. I originally found you because you were highly recommended in several gem forums. I'm so in love with my ring, I'm hoping for a pair of sparkly earrings, too. I've learned a lot about gems on your website, not to mention looking at all the eye candy!

"Dear Ed,   It just arrived.  When in your modest description of the stone you said "consider this not despite the color zoning but because of it" I said to myself, "Aha - this one's for me."  t's like when wall diving you look down through different depths of blue ocean. Looking down 100ft it's such a concentrated blue while at the same time what's immediately around you is not blue at all. Same fascination for me!  Knew I'd love the secrets in this stone.  Didn't know how much I'd like having a trillion. Truly appreciate a setting that allows me to explore it!  May have a hard time holding onto it when my daughter sees it! Definitely worth the wait! Thank  you!! "

"It's very interesting to see under different lighting. It would seem to be more light pinkish under normal light, but it gave off the orange color when I used an LED flashlight. I didn't really notice the window, as much as I did the inclusion near the culet. Very satisfied overall. It looks great!"

We can’t thank you enough!  I’m already saving up for the next few gems I want to buy from you. You’ve gotten me into a very expensive hobby…..Thank you so much for the signed book too! I can’t wait to read it. Thank you thank you again! You’ll hear from me again soon though."

"They’re exactly how I imagined, the engagement ring sparkles so much in the sun I want you to see it in the day light I think Ed is definitely the guy to go to. They look just like the pictures its even bigger than I thought it was going to be It looks just like how I thought it would be Just bigger hahahahah The box is nice too That it came in, they packaged it really well And the gold they used looks gorgeous I don’t wanna talk it up too much Ill wait till you see it hehehohohoho... "

R.L. again, a while later:
"I also wanted to tell you that I've really been enjoying the demantoid and emerald rings from you. I've been studying them in different lights and locations and I love them more and more everyday.
I want to say again how much we appreciate your honesty and devotion to your work. The way you described and pictured the demantoid was so right. I see the metallic in it, but most of the time, especially under a blue fill sky, I see blazing green. I know others would have presented the gem in the best light, but we appreciate so much that you were true about the gem. Plus it leaves us so much more to discover :)"

"I have been wanting to write, but needed to find some time for a thoughtful message and of course time always gets away from me. Surely it will surprise you not at all to hear that I have been wearing the ring since I received it. The stones you picked are just gorgeous; the sapphire provides a lot of unexpected sparkle and the tsavorite is brighter and sparklier than I had imagined. I am still waiting to catch the sphene and demantoid in candlelight, but love catching the rainbows where I can. I did expect the cc sapphires to have more of a green tint to them, for some reason, but am having fun watching the changes - they become such a vibrant orange!  I have been thinking perhaps I should have taken you up on the suggestion of little interspersed diamonds, but ah well, lovely all the same. One of my favorite aspects is the weight of the platinum; it feels nice and substantial while being utterly simple. Feeding my addiction, I am now perusing some small stones for a three stone ring or necklace... Thank you for your beautiful work and talk soon."

"Glad we followed your suggestion to try something different rather than the usual prongs. These broad flat claws are kind-of mixing a frame setting with a normal setting. The gem is beyong iammaculate as we knew, and the setting confirms the quality and detailed love that goes into your work. Thank you so much. I will honor it every day. And thanks for keeping my husband so happy and busy. He has developped a new passion for life with your gems. Put this up in your website so he knows what I think officially and he has it as proof for the many times I nag for talking too much about you and your gems. Truth is, you have breathed new life into my better half. Thank you again."

Title

J.J., Houston:

"While I was never overly concerned with purchasing such a unique stone from you (because of your reputation, our previous deal, your business model and overall professionalism/care for the industry as a whole), I have been tentative on certain types of gemstones; as I'm sure you are aware the market can be very unforgiving to those who make ill-advised purchases of "hot", "over-marketed", "over-priced", "mass-produced", "heated", and downright synthetic knock-offs.

So with that being said, to know without a shadow of a doubt that I purchased/invested in a natural, unheated and untreated rare gemstone is a priceless peace of mind by itself (authentic and well respected lab report). I also owe the knowledge of gemstones, rather the expansion of my knowledge to you....I've learned so much by simply trolling your website, admittedly excessive at times. But the fact that you share your knowledge with the world and free of charge is amazing to me, because so many companies, dealers, sellers, etc. simple try to SELL you something, anything.

You my friend go against the grain and you shall continue to be rewarded and blessed by this, I am sure of it.

The Stone:

I have to admit, this was a trust test for you and you passed handsomely. As you may recall I was all over the map in trying to select a proper center stone for the wedding ring/band set. And initially, I was not a huge fan of the Tanzanite's description or main photo online and I still regret not buying the other piece if you must know. But one look at this Tanzanite in person and it captivates you like seeing your favorite movie star in person for the 1st time. Zero regrets.

The Setting:

This is just a personal, novice, eye only opinion. The Halo of Diamonds are magnificent, they seem to be very high quality. I don't see any other color than sparkly white. They are so white and bright, they could have overpowered a lesser center stone. The CC Sapphires are to die for. They match extremely well on the wedding ring! The band CC sapphires match each other as well, but the eye does let you know the ring and band CC sapphires are not an exact match (I hope this makes sense). The wedding ring cc sapphires show more pinkish/yellowish tones while the band cc sapphires show more yellowish/green....am I upset, saddened, or disappointed by this? Not at all. It makes the ring that much more interesting.

I was surprised by the thickness of the platinum and the one and only wish for improvement would be that I wish the band and the ring looked "better together". When placed together, I can not honestly say one enhances the other or compliments the other extremely well. You can tell they are made to match but other than the similarities (plat, cc sapp,) they don't seem unified. They stand alone very well.

I see her wearing one or the other but not necessarily both at the same time. Maybe this will grow on me. And I also cede the fact that I really didn't help with design ideas at all and wouldn't know how to properly articulate a way for them to match better. I don't consider this an issue or a problem nor do I believe the overall value suffers, its just a subjective view point.

Appraisal: Does it matter? Yes and No. Yes, because I see all natural gemstones as an investment and any good investor will tell you that you want your investments to appreciate in value. No, because I would more than likely rob a bank than sell this ring (after burying it and telling my children where its hidden). The jury however is still out on the final U.S.A, 3rd party appraisal of stones/work, to justify the monies spent and to see if the jewelry has already surpassed its purchase price (which has already happened for my 1st piece of jewelry I purchased from you). I fully expect to get an appraisal that raises the financial bar, I'll confirm this later.

Final Thought: I have never held something so precious in my life from a material stand point and how fitting? I've never met someone as precious to me as Francesca, so to symbolize my love for her in this magnificent piece of art is something I will always cherish and am certain she will always admire.

P.S. The women at the Jewelry store where the rings are currently being appraised were all in awe of the ring and mentioned the fact that they rarely get Tanzanites or CC Sapphires to examine. For added humor and irony the company is currently appraising another Tanzanite stone (11 ct) a couple bought from Tanzanite International.....and yes it's bright blue and heated.

Ed, you can not imagine the joy I received by being able to explain to the service manager the major/key/unique differences my stone displayed in comparison to the other stone in their possession. Although, it raised concerns for me that they wouldn't really know how to value my stone, as they stated "All Tanzanites are heated".......#knowledgeispower"

C.D., CA:

"Its really remarkable. This stone 'glows' outside and even in the dark. Never seen anything quite like it.  The designer works for a local jeweler here - Sharif Jewelry, Folsom CA.  I really wanted something 'low profile' and rather 'antique' that showed off the sapphire more than the rest.  I added the milgrain because it gave it that antique look.  One thing he said he did was to line the inside of the part of the ring that holds the sapphire with some material that created brighter reflection. Perhaps this is one of the reasons its so blingy despite the fact the sapphire is set quite low, almost flush with the top, just like the little diamonds.

Thank you again, its been a really fun and interesting process for me. I realized its been a full year since I first got in touch with you to begin the process of learning more about sapphires - I continue to try to learn more about colored gems and often visit your site for new information. I was stunned by the private collection that you are posting. Wow, what a incredible lifes work ... its only money right LOL

I thought I would send you a picture unfortunately the photos don't do this justice but I finally got my beautiful pink sapphire I bought from you mounted. Of course I would have liked to have had a bit more bling but I still had a budget to deal with overall I'm really happy it's an 18 carat Palladium gold. I got the appraisal back and I'm happy to say it appraised really well

The appraiser that did it rated the sapphire as a 4/5 on the Gia color scale if you're interested I'd be glad to send you a copy thank you again and I am already starting to shop for the next acquisition from wildfishgems have a great day"

"The ring in fact was delivered on Monday, to my delight! The setting is wonderful, and just as I had requested - simple and substantial.  I had wondered how it would be set, vertical or horizontal. Though I had assumed vertical, I decided not to provide any direction in that regard, presuming you and your team would set it so that the stone showed to its best effect. So very glad to have kept mum on that issue. Though oval, the horizontal orientation and the setting itself give more of a cushion effect, and for sure make the stone appear larger on my finger than if it had been set on the vertical. The stone itself is so lovely - while not a color shifter, we do see lots of shades depending on the light and angle. Lavender, purple , pink, peach, green.  I typically take my rings off before I go sleep, but this one I keep on! Thank you for such a beautiful and special piece of jewelry, I just love it.

I'll be back again, probably sooner than I should be. Be well!"

"Firstly my very grateful thanks for the "Cheeky Apatite"!  You're right he is a beauty and a whopper ! I just love the colour.  He is very sparkly too, which I find very attractive.  There were a lot of facets to cut on the design.  A lot of work has gone into it.  It's very, very kind of you I'm very happy with him. 😀 I think he will be made into a pendant.  Do you know anything else about it ?  Where he came from or the size.  I've never seen an Apatite before.  He is a bit of a flashy show-off lol !

I've been looking forward to the Rhodolite pendant arriving.  It's Amazing!  The stone is a fabulous colour and it changes at night to a different shade.  Very eye-catching.  A very interesting gemstone.  I am delighted with the design and the stone and the workmanship is perfect. It is a beautiful piece.  I've been wearing both the studs and the pendant and they compliment each other wonderfully.

What else can I say but a big heartfelt THANK YOU 💟again for all your work organising the making of the jewellery and the super speedy delivery too.  Yet another very satisfactory transaction and extremely happy customer!  I love it! Much love and thanks Ed"

I know you know I'm responsible and reliable, just as I know you are.  Eager to start another project next month. I'm always a fan who wishes you and your family the best of everything! We saw dark rose pink, purple, orange, brown, green and red - incredible!  I will also add that this is fairly addictive!  I am now back to perusing stones to set in my grandmother's ring - the purple cc sapphire, a yellow sphene and a Montana sapphire are currently in the running...Thank you for the book - I am looking forward to reading it! "We had a lovely Sunday thanks to you and your team! Well worth the wait.
The swan design is just perfect and well balanced. The golden yellow stone is well set and the swan looks very regal. My little daughter was so thrilled that she begged to to wear it right away. It was hard for us to get her to give it back, and it is going to be a long time before she gets to own it for good. As for the ring, the stone is exactly like you mentioned. A spectacular sparkling, dark pinkish orange Ruby that drips with light. A very cheerful looking stone (if I could pin human emotions on it)!
The design is well thought of. I had envisioned a  more simpler design but everyone is so happy with it that I don't want it any different. I am already wearing it. 😊
Thank you for your book, I look forward to reading it. I find your blog engaging, kind and humane. It is wonderful to know why you called your business " Wildfish." Keep up your good work and keep writing!
As usual, it was a pleasure to do business with you and the kids thank you for their rain forest certificates.
It is all smiles here... Take care."

He was somewhat over-awed. Curiously, the rough got more scrutiny by him as he tried to get his head around possibilities for cutting, etc. He is considering starting his Gem-A online training soon and I am looking to get him some vacation work exposure just to let him see how the sale of gemstones and gem-set jewellery works. So, a big thank you for both pieces. Looking forward to receiving the next regular "Wildfish" email."

C.B., OR:

"I just received the ring and it is beautiful. Thank you so much. The colors in the sapphire are mesmerizing. Deep plum and cobalt blue with flashes of pink, red, and lavender. Different lighting brings out different colors. Lovely and unique and very mysterious. Right up my alley.

I am so very glad I took a chance on this stone. I think having it recut was the right decision. What I lost in gem weight I gained in light dispersion. The craftsmanship on the setting is excellent. The fit is perfect and it goes with my anniversary band that I asked you to design around.

This is the second sapphire I’ve purchased from you and now I simply cannot buy from anyone but you. I am a Wild Fish Gems junkie."

"Wow! Still, I adore my Alexandrite Stone ring it is absolutely beautiful and I am so glad I have it. What could be better than designing your own ring with the help an artistic professional? The cat's eye alexandrite is magical the way it changes colors and the flower ring is unique and beautiful. Sending money far away to a stranger can be nerve-wracking but I took a chance after I found out about you in a gem-jewelry blog discussing reputable sellers of colored gems. After looking at your site and seeing the Wild Fish story and seeing my ring would include a donation to save a piece of the rainforest, I knew this was the company I wanted to work with because it gives my ring such positive energy. I'm so glad I chose you to work with as you have made every bit of this process easy and exciting and the result at the end is magnificent. Thank you Ed! Absolutely...Big time, thank you."

L.d.W., FL/Norway:

"This pendant is spectacular and I can't thank you enough! My daughter thinks the pendant is very beautiful! We skyped when they opened the package and I could see the noonday sun shining on and through the ruby as they held it up --- wow!! the sparkle! Looks large in that setting. She's happy it's a heart and says it will go with many outfits, both her daughter's and hers. Awed that it was a ruby, since they had figured it would be a garnet, they're afraid to let a 3-yr old wear it, of course, so the daughters admire it on mom but the baby grabbed it on her neck when she put it on. The magic of ruby to any age!! Symbolic too, as I can't be there much. Told A. to tell A. my love is in that heart because love is always in the heart. So it's a gift with a message, as you said."

(ruby with diamonds in white gold)

Thank you for sending it. I am curious as to how you pick your topics to write about? Happy Holidays, Ed.  I once did a 350 km. bike ride from Porto to Santiago, Spain.  Beautiful country, and nice people along El Camino de Santiago de Compostela. along it, I ran into a family who was such a fan of Charlie Chaplin that they had a big portrait of him painted on their house. I joined them for some homemade wine and cheese.  Great Adventure."

P.C., Staffordshire, England:

"My Perfect Pink Sapphire Pendant was waiting for me when I arrived home very late last night. I bustled through unpacking the car and bringing the dogs in and generally settling in before opening the package.   I laid a fire and opened a bottle of sparkling wine and then brought the envelope in to join me.  I was tracking the parcel as you know and was expecting it on Monday so was delighted to find it had been delivered already.  On opening the outer wrappings I found your little surprise and I wondered what that was about until I read the message aha ! Brilliant !  I'm very pleased thank you so much and will listen with great pleasure. Next to investigate the main event.... Unwrapped the jewellery box to see how the setting looked.  WOW !  You said I wouldn't be disappointed and I certainly wasn't - it was stunning.  I think the sapphire would look fabulous whatever it was put into as it is very, very beautiful.  A lovely pink, not too strong nor watery weak either.  Just the most pretty clear girly pink, my favourite colour. (!)  It glitters and flashes and does not like to be ignored.  It sits well on the chain I have.  The workmanship is extremely good and the back of the pendant is as well made as the front.  Which surely is the sign of true craftsmen/women.  I could wear it back to front no problem. Thank you so much for organising the creation of my pendant.  I love it, love it.   It's not coming back.       It's mine I tell you, mine all mine. Until next time.......Thank you again"

I started reading it and am truly fascinated.  I had to laugh a bit when you mentioned the pricescopers in the early pages of your book as that is where I learned of you and your nice work. Love the spinel and those little itty bitty tsavorites. They are darling. I just love the princess cut of them. So thank you very much and after I replenish the kitty I will be looking for perhaps and even larger spinel. black tourmaline silver pendant

A.N., CA:

"The brown Tourmaline is on me.  I'm not sure what it means "the stone was reiki" when I  read the description,  but I do feel/see the positive changes since wearing it. For instance, I now work 7 days a week and get paid for every hours I put in, because the company needs people like me. I've been so busy. I need more good/positive large stone like the brown tourmaline.  LoL"

Title
natural green grossularite garnet

M.H., MA:

"The stone arrived on Thursday Feb. 12. It's always strange buying stones on line as no matter how hard the merchant tries to get an accurate photo of the piece, it always is different in one's hand. You guys do a good/ great job with the photos! I am more than satisfied/ happy with the garnet! What a rich, LUSH green. On seeing the stone I could see the ring. As I said before, sometimes it takes me months or years to " see " the finished piece, but this was immediate. Will most likely orient the stone east/west, slightly tilted in a very shiny finish yellow gold setting. Maybe 20-22 kt. to accentuate the golden highlights in the stone. This might be the easiest and fastest design ever for me. Last year you had a chrome tourmaline with golden flecks but I hemmed and hawed too long. " He who hesitates ......." Is that the green stone in the necklace in your jewelry  line? Gearing up for another foot and a half of snow and already they're forecasting 2 more large storms next week! Again, the stone IS beautiful ! And , thanks for your patience !"

(green grossularite garnet)

Title
tsavorite, padparadscha and ruby in gold ring

J.S., Australia:

"Your new goldsmith has done us proud, the design works well for the gems. You have managed to explain my mud map. It's always a gamble when you have a clear idea of what you want but cannot explain it directly. Second hand from you has worked well, you do know my preferences now. I now know what blazing green means. Incredible! Stunning stones that could steal any show. Thank you for your sound advice in helping me select a padparadscha that manages to hold the limelight next to these stones. You are right, a wild ring for me, but R. thinks it the most exciting ring that I have and, as an Aussie man, he really is seldom inspired by jewellery."

(blazing green tsavorites and padparadscha in Etruscan-style white/yellow gold ring-set)

Title
untreated sapphire rainbow set and rubies and padparadschas and diamonds in gold pendant

G.V., FL:

"Finally got the pendant. Wow is all I can say. It will be a challenge finding the right chain if I want to wear it as a pendant. Other thoughts are turning it into a bracelet or a pin. Either way, you've picked the most beautiful stones to compliment the diamond. I appreciate the time and effort in making my diamond into something that can be worn daily if I choose. I'm going to the jeweler over the weekend to find the chain....such very beautiful stones. The sapphire in the rough you included? I never saw a gem in natural form. I will take time to read your book also. Your attentiveness  to detail is wonderful. Can't wait to find a chain for my heart. Also the jewelers eyepiece was fun to use looking at the various stones. I truly have something special. Stay well and you will be hearing from me again."

Title
Fire opal untreated prescision cut

A.B., UK:

"I’m very happy with the stones you sent thank you, particularly the demantoid and the welo opal.  The play of colour of the opal is quite unlike any other opal I have seen.  The challenge now is to think whether it can be used in any jewellery - if not then I’m delighted to have it my collection, but it seems a shame not show it of to the world.  My understanding is that welo opals are hydrophane and will change or lose their play of colour when saturated with water.  Is that something you have any knowledge of for this particular source of material?  The cut of the stone would probably best suit a ring for use on dressy occasions - but although my wife will understand “careful you don’t scratch or knock this”,  she won’t thank me for a ring she can’t wash her hands when wearing.  Do you have any sense of the degree of wetting that would affect the stone?  OK to rinse and dry immediately?  OK to wear when bathing?  OK in seawater?  OK in chlorinated swimming pools?  If you have any thoughts I’d be grateful - but don’t worry if you don’t know - it seems that there is not yet that much experience of using welo opals in jewellery so this is all a bit of an adventure! Thanks also for sending me your book.  I have not yet had a chance to read it but I surely will.  Very kind of you."

(opal, demantoid, chrysoberyl)

Title
fine mint tourmaline rectangular no treatment

G.M., CT:

"Received the package on Friday, when I returned home from work.  The stone looks fantastic, thanks.  I think that will be prefect for what I was intending to do with it.  And thank you for the sapphire crystal, that’s really cool.  After reading the book Trouble in Madagascar and seeing a few TV presentations on the gem word, it can be a very dangerous, manipulative and political profession, gives a whole new perspective to looking at the stones, that’s for sure.  I have at least one more stone to purchase in the future for my eldest daughter, I don’t quite know what color stone to consider, I’ve got some sneaky inquiring to do to find out.  "

(tourmaline)

Title
untreated aquamarine in prescision cutr

S.L.C., Japan:

"Aquamarine received. Shows how important cutting is, in my view. It will cause people to ask if it is a diamond in artificial light, because it looks entirely brilliant white until the sun shines, revealing the blue and its true identity as an aquamarine. I fully realise that pale aquamarine are considered inferior to their deeper blue brethren, but this stone proves there is another side to the argument. "

(aquamarine)

Title

Title
yellow sphene with adamantine luster

E.U-O.; MD:

"I received the sphene today. It was evening already, so I proceeded to read your book cover to cover ( I couldn't put it down!), then observe the sphene as you instructed under candlelight. The luster is outstanding! Why do I feel like you sold me a fancy yellow diamond? And to think diamonds have less luster than this sphene (outside of the diamond store lighting) is worrisome! Thank you for the beautiful gemstone, the education on gemstones and the rainforest, and for the riveting story!

(sphene)

Title

K.F., VA:

"Cushion cut stone came in and am trying to set it now. Color looks great and pretty much what I was looking of, so just going to work with it, not return. multi blue saphhire from Laos noheat not treated

N.R.J., Chicago:

"The sapphire arrived today - gorgeous, just gorgeous.  Love it.  Subtle drama sounds like an oxymoron, but it describes this stone pretty well.  And thank you for the extras, including your book.  I look forward to dipping into it, I'm sure you have many interesting tales to tell.  My husband and I have already told about twenty people about Wild Fish Gems.

Quick question, on the website there was mention of the World Land Trust charity program and certificates issued with each purchase.  I did not find a certificate for the WLT in the shipping materials (I did find the printed sales receipt and the AIGS card in an envelope). I was wondering if that would be mailed out separately? (Note by Ed: Yes, we do that after the sale is closed

But, thanks again.  We're delighted with our purchase from you and your company."

oval shape dark blue afghan sapphire natural

A., Singapore:

"Having so many reviews of positive feedbacks for WildFishGems(WFG) makes me less nervous, still nervous nevertheless to deal on such expensive Gemstone: FYI it is a blue sapphire; hence, to assure myself I kept posting inquiries to Ed for the past 6 months, and Ed has been patiently entertaining my questions. Finally with enough information and confidence from Ed, I decided to proceed with purchase and payment. The sapphire came fast(only 2 days after he received my remittance, I do recommend faster courier service for person with proneness to anxiety attack like myself) and matched his description and evaluation. WFG is definitely a keeper for your gemstone needs."

Title
untreated or unheated marine blue saphhire

J.W., FL:

"Wow! I am so impressed with the sapphire. It's exactly as I hoped, actually better, just beautiful. I apologize for my late response, but my wife's grandmother is not doing well. She left the country on the day of the stone's arrival, but she left before it arrived. So I have been pretty busy with my three-year and nine-month old sons. She first saw it yesterday when she returned. She loves it too.
The description of the stone and the online pictures were spot on, which of course helped me choose the stone I wanted and filled me with anticipation for seeing it in person. I wasted no time in admiring it in the sunlight and indoor light.
I am really enjoying your book, interesting plot so far and suspenseful. It's hard to put down. Thanks for personalizing it!
I really feel appreciated to be your customer and am looking forward to being a long-time Wild Fish fan!"

precision cut dark blue sapphire no heat or treatment

TGA, NY:

"The stones and crystals arrived and I like them very much. Thank you! They are just as described and pictured.  You do an excellent job of putting visual impressions into words and capturing the gems in photos. Not an easy task. Thank you, also, for the crystals.  What fun!  I enjoyed your book, too, by the way.  However, it did remind me that our desire for sparkly stones can have (has?) a huge impact the people, wildlife and land of Third World countries - not usually for the better.  Worldwide how many gem dealers are like you?  Is there any Fair Trade type organization for gem mining?  I would hope you are not out there alone. I applaud your practice of supporting miners and lessening the impact or their work on the environment. Best wishes,
TGA in NY

sphene, indicolite, sapphire all natural set in a 18k yellow gold handmade ring

D.H., Beverly Hills:

"I had received the indicolite and yellow/green sphene, but said I wasn't going to get them set right away.  Well, I finally did, and thought you'd like to see the results. I've attached photos.  Now, keep in mind, the camera I have is pretty much the 21st century version of an Instamatic, so the photos will not be the quality of your nice photos, but the fact that I now know how to attach a photograph from my computer is a minor miracle.  The jeweler and and his staff were quite intrigued with the sphene, and I think he had a good time helping me get this made, as well as the indicolite which I think looks pretty fantastic with the tsavorites as side stones."

18k white gold pendant with an not treated triangular shape sphene

P.C., UK:

"My pendant has arrived safely yesterday thank you.   The Vanadium Trillion Sparkle Sphene is stunningly beautiful.  I took it into  the Winter sunshine this morning and it was dazzling.  Quite the stunner.   In the evening here in my lounge, I have it beside me and it is glittering away with many colors including lots of red flashes. Isn't that amazing considering it's a lime green stone- fascinating.

In The Lord Of The Rings, the half-elf princess, Arwen, is the keeper of a wondrous sparkling magical pendant called "The Evenstar"............... mine is nicer   :-P

Until next time…..

I think that this protection purchasing of the rainforest is a brilliant idea and is typical of the gentle and intelligent world-friendly way that Wildfish operates! It gives me a proud feeling to be a very small part of your grand  scheme.  Might visit my patch for a holiday.... only joking! The rainforest has many possible medical secrets yet unresearched that could help mankind in the future.  It's protection is vital.  Not to mention keeping the wildlife habitats intact for all the creatures that live there. You deserve a brilliant and successful Happy New Year."

M.G., Lithuania:

"Today my yellow sapphire arrived. I just love how it sparkles. It's even more beautiful than in the photos. Thank you very much!

It's funny how I found you - I was about to buy a yellow sapphire from NSC, but a doubt came to my mind/ Something felt wrong. Maybe their photos are too much photoshoped or just the vibe was not right. So I went searching for more info and then found your post in pricescope about energy of gems. Your vibe felt right, so I went to see what you have, found this gem and just fell in love with it. I can send you a pic when it will be added to a Jyotish ring."

J.S., Australia:

"The earrings arrived today. I was not initially blown away by the sapphires but they are growing on me rapidly. They do sparkle beautifully and will be very easy to wear with everything. The African sphenes are actually nicer than I thought they could be. Altogether very happy. I had a fun time yesterday reading your testimonials and I agree with a number of other customers who will no longer buy from anyone else. R. asked, a few days ago, for your site to give to a friend. I wear the pink spinel you encouraged me to consider when I am at home. The pink sapphire and Montana sapphire to work and my Ceylonese sapphire out in the evening (or at Christmas/New Year). Like your other customers I do appreciate the time you take to help us make our choices."

montana sapphire natural noheat not treated in 18k yellow gold ring perfect craftmanship

K.K., Australia:

"It has taken a while but I have finally had the Montana sapphire set into a ring, the colour is perfect and I couldn't be happier. After much research I decided to go with a rose gold and platinum setting, which will not tarnish and is very secure, perfect for wearing all the time.

I found the information on your website invaluable, it helped not only with making an informed decision when choosing a stone, but also gave me a realistic idea on how to approach having the stone set and dealing with the jeweller. Like with most things, it was worth spending a bit more to get it right the first time. Thanks for your help and advice, I will be back!"

K.L., UK:

"We received the package tonight. Thank you for the extra bits for examining the gem -- that was unexpected! I was able to see the light inclusions mentioned, which were not visible by eye, certainly from the views that count anyhow. The colour is better than I expected (I relied quite a bit on your description and codes) which I am very pleased about. It is a subtle and pleasant warm pale purple. The warmth (saturation?) is what I like best about it. Second best is how it sparkles and picks up colours from the environment. I can't wait to see it in daylight!"

Australian sapphire no heat set in ring made of 18k white gold

G.M., CT:

"I received the ring on Friday and although her birthday isn’t until October I wanted to present it to her right away. As you said, it came out great, it’s beautiful, she absolutely loves it. The stone, although unseen by me other than your website is awesome, combined with the setting (which your goldsmith did a fantastic job) is breathtaking. We were out for a motorcycle ride yesterday and I saw her observing the sparkle emitting from the ring in the sunshine in my rear view mirror.

Thank you so much for making this online experience a rewarding and satisfying experience. Needless to say, she is in love with and keeping the ring."

K.M., NY:

"The ring arrived last week and I proposed to her on Saturday. Her first reaction was pleased, but as it was in the evening, the stone couldn't show her its full "stop-light red" glory, so I told her to wait until she could see it in the sunlight the next day. Big mistake - she's been up at 6 o'clock every morning since so that she can spend an hour admiring it in the sunrise! Needless to say, she is beyond pleased, which means that I am beyond pleased."

C.E., Germany:

"Thanks a lot for this wonderful amethyst. It is really an excellent+ gem, the clarity, the colour, the brilliancy, the size and last but not least the precision cut from Peter Torraca.

It is difficult to believe, but the amethyst is much nicer than on the pictures. As often, priority should be given to "overall grade" and to "comment"  over the pictures.

Title
set of natural rubies in palladium ring unique piece of jewelry

C.E., Germany:

"Hi Ed,

herewith the promised picture of a ruby set in a palladium ring and a ruby set in a palladium choker necklace, both designed by Renesim.

First point
Palladium is mixed with gold to made white gold.
Density of palladium (12 g/cm3) is near to the density of silver (10,5 g/cm3), but nearly no oxidation (we have the ring for 1,5 year now). The surface can be brushed to  adapt the hue (grey scaling). Further it is not a problem for a jeweller to clean such a ring or necklace if necessary.
Further the price of one oz (726 USD/oz) is about the half of the price of gold (1384 USD/oz) .  With regard to the density of gold (19,3g/cm3) the final price with palladium will be about 1/3 of the price of an equivalent in gold. It seems to be a good alternative to white gold or platinum

Second point
I read in the testimonials that somebody was surprised of the small size of the gem. Personally I draw the gem  on paper in a 1 to 1 scale and with the colour to see how it looks like.

Maybe you can add both points on your page.

Cordially,"

set of natural spinels, tourmalines and zircon

N.K., Spain:

"I just received the stones. They are beautiful, thank you very much! Thank you for being so kind and for helping me choose and the additional pictures. I particularly like the zircon. It is lighter than I imagined and so much better than the picture. It's funny how zircons are undervalued - in my view at least. The other day I was asking myself the following. Did you ever come across a nice grey sapphire or spinel? I don't mean blue-grey but grey, maybe warmish grey? How expensive would they be? Are people at all interested in those?"

cc garnet in local gold setting with tons of diamonds everything natural, without treatments
S.T., CA:

"You sold me a CC garnet a year ago. It was a 1.46 CT cushion - Grading report CCBG146, Certificate #11030142.  I finally had it set and it's so fabulous.  It took me a year to find a setting that did it justice and then the jeweler did some custom work to make it perfect.  It's a 1.00CTW with a halo containing 217 tiny F colored, micro pave set diamonds.  It's a unique gem in a one of a kind setting. To be honest I loved looking at the garnet so much while it was unset, I was afraid I would mess up the beauty by covering up even a tiny portion with the prongs. I'm not a great photographer, but I took a few pics. Thanks for the BEAUTIFUL gem!"

Buying a gem required a leap of faith for me -- I am not a gem expert, and I had never met you or seen the gem in person when I made the purchase.  Your fairness, professionalism and honesty made working with you easy and relaxing, and I am completely satisfied with my purchase. Thank you!"

square shape natural burma ruby

J.B., OH:

"I am doing well. Thank you for asking. It is a gorgeous stone. I'm a little perplexed as what to do with it. It would be an amazing stud in earing, but at the same time I think it done properly could look great in a ring. So you now see my conundrum. I love to wear in earing and would wear this one often, but at the same time I have always wanted a ruby ring. At this point in time I own no rings. It is truly a tough choice."

The ring arrived today and we are stunned by its beauty. You were right on the mark with all your suggestions. It looks very luxurious and grand. Please thank him and Mr. S. on our behalf.

Title
natural beryl and danburite not treated

M.W., British Columbia:

"I received your expedited parcel here today in N, thankyou for getting it to me before my trip. I have now enjoyed the last few hours with the contents of the parcel......delightful!!

I am amazed with the cut and brilliance of the 3.48 helidor......a "stand alone" wonder to behold.

The Danburite, I love even more, as it is truly an individual. So far, I seem to notice it wants very much to pretend to be a padparadsha...or alexandrite......it shows an orange-pink...and then a mellow chryso green.....and that is likely due to the company of the chryso's which are keeping it company. The brilliance of this stone is wonderful, and I wonder if it could be set with yellowish/ green/brown chrysos , and in yellow gold, to bring out yellow refractive qualities. This stone loves a pink/orange very much as well.....myself, I tend to earthy greenish amber yellow ....but this is just an idea for you if you wish to mention these stones to your partner. You may send him pictures of all the stones, and see if he would like to think about settings.  Here is what I am thinking:

Ring idea #1: 3.26 oval cut chryso with two smaller 1.2 chryso brownish green trillion cut side stones....in a large18-22 carat yellow gold setting...an art piece...not dainty

Ring idea #2: 3.48 trillion cut chryso, with two smaller 1.2 brownish green trillion cut side stones......in same setting as above.

Ring idea #3: 4.69 faint yellow danburite, set with stones to relect the already inherent colours of the stone. Again, set in a substantial higher carat gold setting.

Ed, I am SO HAPPY with all these stones. Thankyou for taking the effort to get them to me so quickly....and also for the Bon Voyage on my Asia trip.....this is a return trip for me, I lived in Bangkok for two months with my family back in 1976.......my grad year from high-school. My father was a research scientist with Canadian government.....doing work on low oxygen "klong" carpfish......back then, a major food supply!! And the klongs then were just as bad as when your " not -so -grateful"  dog friend who you rescued (and bit you!) was in the soup! Kudos to your vigilant wife and pet dog!!!!!!! In the meantime, I have worked in China and Taiwan ....so really....my mother and I are really returning to Asia for the FOOD!!!! We love it, and do our best to cook it here......but a poor comparison to local.......I am sure you know.

I hope all goes well in your world in the meantime, I will be online while in Vietnam and Cambodia, so please feel free to drop a line .....I would be pleased to hear from you anytime, and hope we can do business again soon."

precision cut red spinel ruby natural no-heat

C.E., NL:

"The orange dash gives the spinel a sweat touch. I like this warm red. I never see an analogous gem. This colour is unique. It is a really beauty.
Now after the precision-recut giving an excellent symmetry this spinel is splendid and has a perfect balance. The nicest spinel I have ever seen by jewellers or mineralogy fairs. Despite the precision-recut, the face is still analogous to a 4 ct square shaped sapphire I have. It was love at first sight, and now since I can admire this gem with my own eyes, I am still in love with it.
This spinel is really exceptional and beyond the standards. For me, the overall grade after the precision-recut is excellent+.

The second gem, a Mozambique ruby, is also an excellent gem with a high brilliancy. The face of this 1,28 ct square shaped ruby is huge. In mm2 the surface of its table is comparable to the face of a 1,6-1,8 ct oval ruby,

The ruby is magnificent, but the spinel is in its own category, somewhere else in the universe of the gems.

Thanks for these magnificent gems. I can imagine  that it is probably neither easy nor obvious to hunt such gems and  requires a lot of patience."

"My jeweler contacted me this afternoon to let me know that the stone arrived in good condition.  Thank you for all your help.  I appreciate your communication, and am impressed with your business practices (both toward your customers and the workers/environment) and will be doing business with you again when I am in need of gemstones.
I stopped by the jeweler yesterday, and got to take a look at the stone.  I realize it's pretty hard to take good pictures of stones for online posting, but I was pleased with how similar the stone is to what was presented online.  The clarity was great, and I was very happy with the blue color (I have been more than disappointed before with other 'blue' spinel purchases); it is a true blue.  The cut of the stone isn't an isosceles triangle as I had imagined from the picture, but I think that will add some more character to the ring, so I'm not worried about that."

J.S., Australia:

"I am very pleased with my 3 rings and glad that I did not ask in time for a smaller size.

The bands are comfortable and thick, just as I like them. You are right about your jeweler in Bangkok- nice work. The Ceylonese sapphire is my favourite but I like both the other rings very well too. Thank you for your suggestion of a white gold band and rose gold bezel for the pink spinel and thank you too for encouraging me to think outside my blue box.

I know that my sister will be very happy with the blue spinel which is rather larger than I appreciated. Like me she chooses to wear chunky rings so it will suit her.

I have had a lot of fun buying from you and now will not buy gems elsewhere but I don't expect to be looking for anything for a while. One day I would like a cabochon but it will be best not to look at your site for some months. We have several weddings to pay for.

Many thanks Ed and great to communicate and buy from you,"

(Sapphire in gold)

J.K.

Yes

I checked back and this arrived just one day short of the 11 month mark since we started on it due to the workshop moving, and then the virus, but it was worth the wait since the setting is so fitting for the stone. It's a more mysterious and striking gem this way (with a hinting rising star in the right light). Thank you.

"The blue sapphire is constantly changing color (blue, purple, violet, orange, red and various combinations at the same time) and we never know what to expect next, much like my personality! The other photos are the 1.73 white (green) sapphire (we've seen pale pink, pale yellow, and clear) and the 2.65 CC blue sapphire.  The white sapphire ring feels just as sweet as the photos and I really enjoy wearing it.  Thank you for providing a venue for beauties like these."

Title

C.E., DE:

"The three exceptional gems have been delivery on Friday. The Colour Change sapphire is my first CC gem. First I looked for adequate light conditions to see this phenomena. It is like switch on/off from a dense and hypnotic Kashmir blue to reddish purple. Further in reddish purple, the sapphire is more transparent, like coloured crystal glass. The purple sapphire/ruby is also marvellous and looks like a 2 ct. It is a kind of CC gem. In a white and very bright light (sunshine at lunchtime or white light under the microscope) it looks deep reddish purple. Under a warm light (having some yellow component) the secondary colour, the red, becomes more importance (for me, red seems than to be the primary colour), and it looks like a ruby. With regard to the rhodolite the best description is yours, a fairytale gem.
I am very happy to possess such beautiful and marvellous colour gems.

"Yes, you are right about the cost of perfection. I saw one like that at Pala... I could buy a beach house for less money!! All in all, I like this stone. Its positives outweigh its negatives. I think you did a fantastic job with the hunt! Much better and much more honest than the other vendor (who shall go unnnamed!) that I was trying to work with. You can mark the 6.2 sapphire as sold! I just got the report from AGLand it came back as unheated, Ceylon and 3.5 color rating. I'm very, very happy with that and will have it sent to Victor to be set early next week. Thank you for all of your patience and guidance during the
gem hunt. I have seen many, many sapphires on this hunt. Some bigger, some better cut, some cheaper, but none as perfect in color (for my tastes anyway!) as this one. I know it will make me happy for years tocome. Worth every penny. ;)"

purple precision cut sapphire natural
R.H., Sedona:

"Exactly ten days to delivery. The red is indeed a sparkler.  Dark in subdued lighting but then really lights up in direct light.  Just enough pink flash to boost the red.   I think set with side stones no one will ever see the surface scar below the girdle.  The purple is "Wild".  Eye clean but clearly a natural with just 10 x."

purple unheated natural sapphires ready to be set in a pair of earrings

Y.D., Ankara:

"I got them! The stones are gorgous! The colour even better in "real life" than they are on your photos! And eventhought they were found 3 years apart  in 2 diffrent mines they look like they belong together! They were well worth the wait! If you should stumble over two sapphires in similar purple colour (and similar price range) that would look great as earrings - please let me know. Again, thanks for your help - and for the stones and have a great weekend, regards from a cold and freezing but happy"

pure aquamarine, topaz, ruby, tsavorite gemstones no heat untreated

C.E., NL:

"Good morning Ed, The aquamarine pair is really amazing. The ruby is very nice and has a big shape. Without reference gems it is difficult to say it is or is not pigeon blood or how close it is form it. For me the color is burgundy red wine in day light, which can be considered as pigeon blood, and more bordeaux wine in low light (In your comment deep red-red MD80, finest red-red,  a classic ruby. In the GRS-certificate vivid red). A very nice gem. The topaz with the golden yellow limonite needles is extraordinary, beyong the normal standard. I don't know if I will set it or put it in my small cristals/minerals collection. Thanks for these nice pieces. "

natural white sapphire and diamonds in gold ring

B.C., NY:

"I finally received the ring, and it was worth the wait! It is BEAUTIFUL!! I can't stop staring at it.The ring is extremely well made - sturdy but somehow delicate in appearance. I could not have imagined it any better. The sapphire is like a headlight in the sun, its blinding! It will be the standard bearer of any sapphire rings I purchase in the future. Thank you for all of your patience and help in creating the ring. And hat's off to the sapphire cutter as well as the goldsmith, it was a match made in heaven. :)"

sun yellow sphene gemstone natural color unheated and not treated

D.H., CA:

"I picked up the sphene yesterday, and it's just great.  It's quite an interesting color, but I really like it.  Definitely not your standard gemstone.  I'm not sure I'll have it set right away, but I'm hoping my jeweler will agree to set it as a ring, if we can find a setting that will be protective enough.  I usually go for the solitaire, but maybe I'll see about setting it surrounded by some small, possibly contrasting, stones, for the cocktail ring look.  Who knows. "

Title
amazing natural color change garnet gem

M.R., Rockville:

"Hi Ed, the gem arrived today! I spent a little time playing with it in different light settings. Very pretty stone. The blue is a nice blue color, the purple is very dark and rich, the light settings need to be just right for the berry color but I got it to do that too by turning off the florescent lights in my office and using the pen light. Also thank you for promptly answering my questions; it was extremely helpful in making my decision. I will definitely keep you on my list for future projects."

beautiful untreated star rose quartz

F.F., NJ:

"I got the package!  It was somehow shipped to my home address instead of my work.  I managed to pick it up from the post office just a few minutes before they closed this afternoon. :)
The rose quartz is beautiful.  I have never seen one with such rich and deep color.  The roundish shape is very pleasing to my eyes too.  I can see the gorgeous star with the flashlight.  I wish I could also see it in the office and/or at home, but there are too many light bulbs at these two places. "

blue color change garnet gemstone untreated and unheated

J.W. Florida:

"the two stones arrived and I collected them from the office this morning. They are both fabulous.  It's mind boggling to imagine how long the sapphire had been in the ground hiding all that sparkle and luster.  I can't wait to have both of them set.  Once again I am pleased beyond the beyond. Honestly, pinkie is almost edible. I was worried about the inclusions depicted in the photo  of the cc garnet on the website.  When I opened the package, all I saw was color, color, color.  Both will be staying with me.  I hope it didn't hurt too much to let that pink one go.  I promise it will have a good home!  All the best, J"

(blue color change garnet, sapphire)

Title
pair of natural orange sapphires
B.H., AZ:

"I received the pair of 5.6+ mm orange sapphires.  No, they are not darker than I expected, sort of copper colored.  They will work fine as simple studs for my granddaughter.  The stone with slightly eye visible white/clear near surface pavilion blemishes is slightly brighter and more orange than the stone with dozens of clear bubbles which I can only see with a 10X lens.  The color or brilliance difference will not matter unless set side by side.  I guess you have corrupted me with all of the "free of inclusions" and "very lightly included" stones I have purchased from you.

I set the 10 mm Sphene as a solitaire and it is quite spectacular.  It literally turns heads when catching strong light."

Title
spinel gemstone not heated and no treatments

D.H., CA:

"Just wanted to drop a line to let you know that my jeweler was quite enamored with the pear-shape red spinel and referred to it as "a very special stone." (I agree.) I had the stones set in very simple gold settings, and they all look fantastic.  Thanks again."

Title
amazing teardrop shape pine green natural sapphire no treatments

M.B., Mississippi:

"you got your wish... we're keeping both stones - one for a ring, and one for a pendant. The leaf shaped green Montana sapphire reminds us (as in your description) of the beautiful pines here on our farm, and the other somewhat heart shaped sapphire reminds both of us of the blue-green Florida springs where we have spent many happy times with our family. Thank you so much for helping us find two sapphires which are special reminders of the environment we love, as well as perfect tokens to commemorate our 20 years together."

Title
blue sapphire not treated or heated

M.C., Canberra:

"Received the package today and have already had the sapphire set into a pendant. Lovely."
and
I had some time last night to put MBS219 under my microscope. Neat inclusions! One of them looks like a woman wrapped in a blanket w/feathers in her hair (solid inclusion w/gas or liquid bubble stacked on top snowman style w/typical wavy healing, and w/o the fractures associated with heating) I had a good look at the orangy wisp since the edges looked dark and found that the effect was due to the angle I was using. The color can have a slight greenish hue in daylight but the green doesn't show at all times, and under the new eco-merc light bulbs it goes to an eggplant or mulberry."

Title
ruby, sapphire, spinel, garnet, zircon, citrine gemstones unheated and untreated

C.E., Germany:

"The last delivery was very quick, and the gems very, very nice . I have admired the gems.  You are right , it is really an impressive package. It is also the proof that photos can only give an indication and cannot reproduce the reality. Therefore the description is very important. I was particularly impressed from the garnet and the "cognac" sapphire because they were much more than I expected. I could write for any of the gems, e.g the colour and the nice shape of the bur. sapphire (near to the golden ratio which is 1,618), so that the ratio length to width is very pleasant to the eye.
I had just a look to your page  " own gemstone jewellery" (thanks for the hint) and may use it in future."

sapphire, spinel, sphene gemstones not heated no treatments just natural from mother earth

D.H., CA:

"I picked up the package yesterday from the post office.  They're all quite beautiful, and I will be keeping them. I think this spinel will be a little more versatile than the one I sent back.  Great color and amazing clarity, and a better size for the pendent I plan to have it made into.  The sapphires are great too (not sure if they'll become studs or little danglers), and the sphene is a sight to behold and is the perfect olivey-green that I was hoping it would be (also meant for a pendent). "

Title
bracelet with several natural gemstones unheated and untreated

L.W., CA:

"This has got to be one of the most interesting bracelets anyone could ever look at! The Burmese stone and the color changer should mesmerize with the day/night shifts in and out of purple. These are the colors that my daughter said were in her garden, so I'm guessing this will knock her eye out when she sees it. It's what every adventure-story reading kid wants to find in that hidden cave! Looks like a very fine job on the links, too.  Carefully crafted, as you always do.  Once again, the score is 10!   Many thanksMy daughter pronounced the bracelet "jaw-droppingly amazing" and said she was having fun studying each gem.  Said she was looking forward to having me see it.  Had a B.D. party on 9/18 for 20 of her orchestra and no doubt she wore it and it was noticed by many.  So I'm happy and no doubt you are too. I have other things to thank you for.
I regenerate after my teaching day by watching a great slide show of more than 100 of my favorite rubies and sapphires from your website.  It's like a moving mandala and as I peer into their depths I restore myself for the next round as well as continuing to learn more.  Unbelievable on a big screen!

Your readings link led me to "Ruby Dick's"  Rubies and Sapphires which I finally found on Amazon for less than the price of a small gem.  Endless learning there.  It will even contribute to my son's teaching his h.s. physics course. You were the one who suggested I check Pricescope, which has been an eye-opener for me as well as my future DIL, who wants a yellow diamond.  (Can't figure out who all those regular Pricescope contributors are though --- merchants or just spendthrifts?)  My DIL-to-be is an environmental lawyer and my son's in environmental policy and planning, so your whole environmental orientation is of great interest to them, and I'm sure they'll tell others in the field about your efforts and website. Until next July I'm saving everything for their wedding present, so I won't be ordering from you until after that, but I will be back despite retiring in June.  (I'd still like to find myself a very tiny wild round brilliant Mogok ruby!!!  although it would take me forever to pay for!)  Meantime, I'm still a big fan and will be studying your website regularly.

the very best to you and worlds of thanks!"
